In the Iron Age, professional armies started to take form in Europe and the Middle East. Thanks to their great movement and defense, Soldiers can whitstand multiple shots from Ballistas and most of them will survive before they can eliminate them easily. Soldiers' usage against Legionnaires should be avoided, for their bonuses against Light Units are high and a couple of Legionnaires can wipe out an entire army of Soldiers with no problems. Soldiers should be placed inside forests to minimize damage taken, but placing them elsewhere will not change the outcome of the fight. Like in the previous era, Light Units are meant to counter fast units. Otherwise, they will be less likely to survive at least two Archer shots. However, they are outmatched by the Mercenary.Īs long as Soldiers are placed in forests or bushes, they shouldn't take major damage from Archers. It also remains effective against the EMA Heavy Cavalry. It can also two hit kill the Archer, making it a good counter against it. Soldiers are also very effective against the fast unit of the age, the Mounted Warrior. It is recommended to use Soldiers to replace Warrior units until a player gets the Legionnaire, as it is superior, or at least equivalent in attack, defense, and movement to Warriors. A good tactic of using the Soldier is to hide in forests/bushes to boost its defense.
